Most of us probably aspire to a long and healthy life. But how many people think about taking care of themselves until something goes wrong. It is never too late to change your habits, it just needs a change of mind, a willingness to do things differently.

We tend to keep doing what we've always done, miss meals, get stressed out, eat quick and easy meals, probably from a packet, drink insufficient water and possibly too much wine, and wonder why we get sick.

There is a growing belief that our orthodox/scientific approach to medicine may be only part of the answer, dealing as it does with isolated parts of the whole. The Wholistic approach encompasses Mind Body Spirit, the triple aspect of self as opposed to the physical body in isolation from the rest.  It is now widely believed by our medical profession that 70-75% of all illness is emotionally related.  A Wholistic practitioner may consider that ALL disease is the result of emotional imbalance.

Wholistic Medicine (frequently spelt without the 'w', but meaning whole rather than holy) treats the person as a whole, looking at their emotional and mental states alongside their physical condition, and seeking to identify and heal the root cause of the condition, rather than the symptoms displayed.

There are many, many branches: Acupuncture, Shiatsu, Aromatherapy, Reflexology, Chiropractic, Osteopathy, Reiki, Crystal Healing, Bowen Technique, Homeopathy, Herbal Remedies, Flower Essences, Lightbody Surgery, Applied Kinesiology, Radionics, to name just a few.  In the UK, some of these have become widely accepted; for example Spiritual Healing is now available on the National Health. In Cyprus some doctors have trained in aspects of alternative medicine.

At the core of most of these practices is the notion that everything in creation has a frequency or vibratory rate which can be measured.  Your body has a different vibration to your head; each organ has its own vibration and variations in this vibratory rate can show dis-ease.  This energy is conducted through the body through a network of channels known as meridians.  The energy field is known as the aura and major vorteces are known as chakras.
